An artistic-scientific search for traces of lost files in the history of psychiatry

An extraordinary exhibition that combines artistic research and historical science. At the center is the meticulous work of a medical historian who has sifted through thousands of files from the years 1945 to 1947. These documents come from psychiatric wards - rooms of transition, waiting and forgetting.

The exhibition takes a multi-layered look at this place where people of different origins and ages came together. Their life stories, which often remained silent, reflect not only individual fates but also a collective memory - and thus aspects of Austrian identity and its contradictions in the immediate post-war period.

Visitors are thus not only given an insight into the complexity, but also into the processes of artistic and scientific research. The boundary between archive and present, between analysis and intuition, is consciously illuminated.

The AM FLUSS gallery offers space for processes - between history and the present, between art and research, between insight and empathy.
